Still a Rose 1998 (Red Chords Collection) - Digital Cross Stitch Pattern
Rhythm and blues. Better known as R&B. A genre of music that’s hard to define in words. You just know it when you hear it. Generally speaking, it encompasses a style that combines elements of pop, gospel, blues, and jazz. Birthed in the postwar 1940s, it’s continuously evolved and produced countless hits. And one fact is without question: the origins of R&B are very, very Black, emerging from the imaginations of musically-talented African Americans trying to express themselves.
What better way to interpret the passion and energy of R&B than via red samplers! Still a Rose 1998 is the first pattern in a new series called The Red Chords Collection, which will spotlight some of my favorite R&B songs - the hits, the deep cuts, the collabs, the remixes, and more. And what better time to start than in Black Music Month.
The pattern features the initials of Aretha Franklin & Lauryn Hill - the two queens who collaborated to create the song - surrounded by an abundance of different rose motifs. It’s a relatively small stitch that can be worked with any two reds you choose, or just one if you’d like to keep it monotone.
Happy stitching and Happy Black Music Month!
